SJBAYS Chinese New Year Carolling
13 February 2011
Gathering as early as 8.30am to have a final practise session, our noisy bunch of carollerscame in red to suit the occasion. As part of our annual celebration, 45 youths this year turnedup from the SJBAYS bunch, travelled throughfour different houses, and brought along noisesand festive cheers. At each house, we presented two celebration numbers and a Buddhist hymn.We brought along our “Choi Sun Yeh”, the ever popular God of Prosperity!
The day started off with Bro. Bernard Yeoh’shouse who has always been a wonderful host forour caroling team. Then as before, we thronged through the Subang Jaya Wet Market in SS15 tobring cheers to our local market vendors. The sight of the God of Prosperity indeed brought an uplifting spirit for the year of the rabbit to all who were going about their weekly marketing there. This year, in fact, we managed to arrive earlier at the market, where the early market crowd was still around and about, and the festive spirits shared in unity were indeed very heartwarming.
Next we proceeded to Bro. Gilbert Yeoh’s house for a warm and lovely visit to a familiar home. The happy day ended on a high note as the team sang out all the songs in high spirits and energy to wish Sis Karen and her family a prosperous year 2011. The festivities came to an end at about 2.00pm.
